A school born from a shared dream to invest in Zimbabwe's youngest citizens.

Our story

Smart Sprouts was founded by two families who deeply believe in the transformative power of quality early childhood education. The founders — Toverengwa and Tendai Chitanda, together with Parentallove and Zydinah Mafu — spent more than five years living and working in the People's Republic of China as English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers.

During that time they had the privilege of working inside high-quality early childhood environments and observing systems that place great value on independence, confidence, creativity and holistic development. They also gained deep exposure to Montessori principles and other internationally recognised best practices.

As their professional journeys continued, one question kept returning: "Why can't Zimbabwean children have access to this kind of learning experience?"That question became the beginning of Smart Sprouts.

Rather than viewing their international experience as something to benefit only themselves, the founders chose to bring their knowledge, skills and passion back home. Our vision is to combine Zimbabwean values, culture and community with internationally informed educational practices — offering children an environment where they are respected as individuals and encouraged to grow into confident, compassionate, capable and responsible human beings.
